Sustainable Flight Safety

The main focus of the new research project is what we call social sustainability. In different studies, we will further investigate the effects of the so called ‘new business models’ on pilot health and flight safety, concerning aspects such as changes in employment, working conditions, health/fatigue and of course flight safety. Based on these findings, the aim is to develop instruments/tools that can identify and give prominence to target factors potentially affecting flight safety, and then develop methods and models for interventions that enable proactive and sustainable flight safety work.

Currently, the project Sustainable Flight Safety has two ongoing studies:

FITNESS TO FLY - Survey about working conditions and health targeting European pilots
FDM-STUDY - Data analysis of Flight Data Moniotring Data (FDM) and roster pairings
